59,000 STUDENTS TO RETAKE JAMB

Thousands of Nigerian students are set to retake their JAMB examination as announced by the leadership of the body.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Friday said the board would reschedule examination for candidates who missed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination because of relocation of centres by the board.

The board said it relocated 59,000 candidates in 15 states because of problems in some of the centres. It also said candidates who had system failure during the examination would retake it, if the board finds their complaint to be genuine.

The Registrar of the board, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, who said this at a press conference in Abuja, added that the new development does not affect candidates who missed the examination deliberately or failed in the examination.

Ojerinde said among the 1,546,633 candidates that sat for the 2016 UTME, 145,704 had issues of multiple results, which have been resolved by the board.

Prof. Ojerinde added that 23,577 candidates were absent on the day of the examination. “We relocated candidates where the board had challenges. The board is looking at some of the issues raised during the examination, but most of the excuses raised by candidates are flimsy,”he said.

“We relocated about 59, 000 candidates due to the problems in various centres which vary from town to town. There are about 59,000 of them spread across 15 states of the federation.

“Those that were relocated never suffered any setback or inconvenience. For all these two sets of people, I want to apologise sincerely for what happened to them, but we are going to put on a redress for those whose relocation affected them in missing their examination.

“Let me use this opportunity to offer explanation on the issue of the much-publicized two results. The process of our marking involves transformation and other qualitative programming.

In the process of these configurations, we had a little challenge which we quickly corrected and ensured that this never happened in subsequent results. This challenge was only associated with the candidates that sat for this examination on Saturday, 27, and some candidates of Monday, 29 February, 2016.”

Prof. Ojerinde said the board found out that some of the over 500 centres used for the CBT was compromised by the operators. He said that one of its centres in Uromi, Edo State was invaded by mercenaries during the examination.

He blamed the education consultants for mobilizing candidates to protest against the conduct of the examination by the board, adding that the quality of the centres used for UTME would not be compromised.

 The noise came in banging on my head,
I had slept on the thought of being jobless,the noise was getting closer. Immediately,
i popped out from my rusty looking mattress.

 The convo dribbling across my mind was far from hunger. I had visited jobs over the week.
Yet the least i could get was

Relentlessly, nodding my head to the mix.Trust me i had no choice. I was revived with the thought of hunger,with no resistance i grabbed my knicker for cooperate begging scheme.

 Then i was mobbed with the smell of gbana(weed). Well, sanity still exist in insanity.

My first branch was Mama J corner, the look on her was inviting despite owing her.
 Indeed, my vocubulary was her turning point. After 30miute of invalid gist, she was cracked up with word
blow haha(BROUHAHA).
 Nevertheless her garri flakes need no sugar.

I got home with instinct questioning my ability of not getting a job because of street syndrome?
Then, i muscled up courage towards having tutorial for students. Well, difficulty in getting fee
which i never prioritized didn't hinder my good faith with the teaching.

 Afterwards, Success came knocking.The recycling moment drives down to the memory lane of getting interviewed
and being rejected. Fighting for background check discrimination was never an option, Perhaps
resuscitating our STREET DREAMS.

MY BITTER EXPERIENCE WITH JAMB YESTERDAY

I happened to write Jamb yesterday in a school named Felicia and Barnabas School,Along Owerri-Aba Road, Ngor Okpala LGA, Imo State.
The exam which was scheduled to kick off by 11am, was first of all delayed due to substandard and un-inspected Desktop systems they had in this center. Also annoying was the fact that their snail-slow server refused to log us on till around 2pm when we finally did.

After some minutes of answering, the server auto-logged everyone out such that they had to ask us to leave the hall briefly. Later on, they asked that a group from numbers 1-100 should go and continue while the rest waited.

Their systems kept giving us issues and so did their servers that no one could answer for a successful 10-20 m so this continued till around 6:30 when the generator set shut itself down leaving people like myself with about 1:25hour remaining of my time and some others whose own systems have not displayed their questions no

r their time till that moment.

The Gen set was serviced and underwent repairs for about 2hrs and then around 8:30pm the 2nd set were asked to go in while the 1st, not yet concluded should wait, but after some minutes of confusion we, the 1st set had to go and join them.

The servers came up with its issues and troubled for quite some minutes till around some minutes after 9pm when everyone was forcefully asked to conclude as we were all automatically logged off by the admin on the server room.

I share this experience because i know its going to affect our results and performances and a such beckon on all who have louder voices to help us get this issues to JAMB officials to consider our plight.

It was really nothing to write home about. In fact, I plead that CBT should be re-organized or scrapped.

JAMB 2016 RESULT WILL BE OUT WITHIN 30 MINUTES

The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board has assured candidates participating in the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination that their result will be made available 30 minutes after they have left the hall.

This was disclosed by the JAMB Boss, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde.

According to him, candidates will receive a
graphical result of the examination via SMS on the mobile
phone numbers they provided during registration.

While the actual result will be made available online within four days.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO 2016 JAMB CBT

The thread highlights the Problems that candidates experienced during their exams on 27th Feb, 2016 and their possible solutions.

We believe you've been waiting for this thread, so we will just jump right into the issues and tackle them using Our staff experience of computers and exams generally.

First, we will like to thank all 27th Feb JAMB Candidates for giving us the the hints and inspiration to write the post. We love you all and we Myschoolers equally wish you success.

1. TIME: The timing for the 2016 CBT exams has changed, although the number of questions are the same. This means you have to work with time while Practicing JAMB Past Questions. The new time is 2hrs 45Mins. The time in previous exams used to be 3hrs 30mins. We are still not sure what inspired the decision for shortening the time but it simply means you have to now work harder.

2. CALCULATOR: For the 2016 JAMB, you will be using what is called an "ON-SCREEN Calculator". You will no longer be using physical, hard calculator. This type of calculator is the type you activate from the computer and you simply click on the values as you see them on the screen. It's just like the type on your mobile phone. According to reports from candidates that wrote on 27th Feb, the button for the calculator is located at the bottom right corner of the JAMB CBT Environment. Just click on it and the calculator will appear.

If you want to practice how to use an "ON-SCREEN Calculator" on a computer system. Open the calculator from your computer, follow these steps;

i. Click on the start menu at the bottom left of your screen.
ii. Find and Click on "All Programs".
iii. Find and Click on "Accessories"
iv. Then Find and Click on "Calculator".
v. It should be very easy to use.

If the calculator you see now, is the type you see on the exam day, you can easily switch to the "Scientific" or "Statistics" part of the calculator by clicking "View" among the top menus in the calculator.

If you will be needing a calculator, you should practice using it before the exam to save you a lot of time and errors you can avoid by calculating using paper.

3. ROUGH SHEET: Some candidates have complained they were not given rough sheet, while others say they were given. Either way, you have to go prepared. We suggest, you make 2 extra photo copy of your Exam Slip. I believe you will be allowed to take this into the hall and you can use that as a back-up.

4. LOG OUT ISSUES: Some candidates complained that sometimes, the system just logs them out of the exam. Don't Panic! Just simply log in again by using your JAMB Registration Number or call the attention of an invigilator.

5. CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND CONTROL: There are some issues that may occur, which are way beyond your control e.g. Power Shutdown, Network or Server Issues e.t.c. In this case, you have to pray that the issue is resolved as quickly as possible by the staff of the centre.

6. GUESSING SOFTWARE: There is really no guessing software. If you see your time is almost running out, do the best you can to select the right guesses and ensure you select an option for every question. You might just guess right.

2015 / 2016 Lagos State Undergraduate Scholarship Award Scheme

The Lagos State Scholarship Board is giving Lagos State Undergraduate Scholarship the agency in charge of scholarship, bursary and other related matters within the state.
It grants Scholarship awards to deserving indigenes in various tertiary institutions for full time studies in order to assist these students financially.  

Before Applying Please Read
Applicant must be a Lagos State Indigene studying in any tertiary institutions across the country
All applicants are required to make a Payment of N2,000.00 for Local Scholarship through the Office of Special Adviser on Education, Alausa Secretariat.
Then take the treasury receipt to the Lagos State Scholarship Board to secure their secret voucher pins for online application. Application will not be processed without evidence of treasury receipt.

Ensure you correctly fill in the application form and click on “Apply Now” button to complete your application.

Applications will be done through this portal only, hard copy applications will not be processed.

Short-listed candidates for the qualifying test on 12th and 13th April, 2016 will be invited by email and SMS text messages. All applicants are therefore advised to ensure that valid GSM telephone numbers and personal email addresses are properly entered into the e-forms on the portal.

Application deadline is 1st April, 2016.

Letter of identification from Oba

LASSRA registration card
Transcript or Statement of Results duly signed and stamped from school stating previous session CGPA results clearly
